Nov. 7, 2019 – “MAIDEN”
In 1989, the Whitbread Around the World Race was considered to be the most dangerous sailing competition on earth. When 26-year-old Tracy Edwards wanted to participate, she was met with resistance and sexism – no team would take her. Left with no other choice, she started an all-female crew, one who would not only take on the vast and foreboding ocean, but also the doubts and attacks from her male competitors and press. In this incredible documentary, watch Edwards and her crew attempt to turn the impossible into reality as they take on fifty-foot waves, icebergs and all of the dangers of the great and powerful sea. MAIDEN is a stunning, emotional film that is a cause for celebration! (C) (2019) (1h 37m) (PG)
Nov. 14, 2019 – “SPACE COWBOYS”
Clint Eastwood, Tommy Lee Jones, Donald Sutherland and James Garner star as a group of pilots whose time has come to serve their country and fulfill their dream of going to space. In 1958, the members of Team Daedalus, a group of top Air Force test pilots, were ready to serve their country as the first Americans in space. When NASA replaced the Air Force for outer atmospheric testing, they were pushed aside for a chimpanzee. Forty years later when a primitive deorbiting Russian satellite imperils the Earth, only they have the knowledge to repair it and save the day. With a payload of heart, humor and heroics, Space Cowboys is all systems go. (C) (2000) (2h 10m) (PG-13)
