Well it’s budgeting time at the Rec Centers, which means now is the perfect time to attend our open meetings, learn the ins and outs of budgeting and get answers to your questions.
Ultimately, the Governing Board will vote on a proposed budget before the end of May, but prior to that, there are plenty of opportunities to listen, learn and be involved in the process. Below are the meetings where parts or all of the budget will be discussed or presented; the community is invited to attend.

Down below are budget resources for members to view during this budget process, including the presentation given at both public budget forums.
Public Budget Forums
The Recreation Centers of Sun City West has set dates and times for its public budget forums taking place at the R.H. Johnson Lecture Hall.
Community members are encouraged to attend at least one of the following sessions to provide input and ask questions. The same information will be shared at both sessions.
- 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 17, R.H. Johnson Lecture Hall.
- 9 a.m. Thursday, April 18, R.H. Johnson Lecture Hall.
Seating in the Lecture Hall is limited to the available seats. We encourage you to arrive early. Additionally, both budget forums will be livestreamed on the Sun City West YouTube channel (youtube.com/suncitywestaz) for those unable to make it in person or prefer to watch online. Comments during both forums will only be taken from the live audiences.
CFO Clifton Swann will give a PowerPoint presentation about the proposed operations and capital budgets for FY2024-25, including Owner Member dues, Asset Preservation Fee, golf and bowling fees. The budget is not yet final. Per Policy Fi15, the Board will discuss the proposed budget in April and vote on it prior to the last day of May.
Recreation Centers of Sun City West managers will also be in attendance at both forums for questions.
My comment is in regards to the condition of the roads in SCW. I have been an Owner since 2008 and can say the roads are in the worst condition ever. Huge cracks, large crumbling surface areas general deteriorating condition. We must invest Budget $ to improve our roadways..
Road repair or resurfacing does not go into our Rec Ctr budget. It is the responsibility of Maricopa County and always has been.
Mr. Mundo, as Mr. Krause stated, the roads are owned and maintained by Maricopa County, not the Rec Centers.
