After a lengthy hiatus, the Rec Centers’ popular Newcomers Orientation event is coming back on Wednesday, Oct. 13, at the Palm Ridge Recreation Center!
From 3 to 6:30 p.m. that day, residents are encouraged to attend and meet SCW Chartered Clubs, service groups in the area, Governing Board and Rec Center staff members. Whether if you are new to the community or have been here for years, this is the perfect opportunity to see what SCW has to offer!

How do I RSVP for 2 for the Newcomers Orientation? Thank you
Hi Cathy. To RSVP, give our Chartered Club Specialist a call at 623-544-6193.
I called and left a message on 623-544-6193 RSVP for two people for October 13th.
Looks like a great turnout of clubs! Would it be possible to post names of clubs unable to attend at the Orientation so that folks new to SCW truly see how many clubs we actually have?
How often are Newcomers Orientations held? We will be painting our new home Oct 13th!
Hi BJ, Newcomers Orientations are held twice a year, once in the spring and once in the fall.
I was not aware the by-laws of the Sportsman”s club was changed to the name of Sportsmen’s Club. I would think the Rec Centers would know the correct name of the clubs and so put it in their announcements.
Hi William. Our apologies for the typo. The webpage has now been updated so it correctly reads Sportsman’s Club.
Please use our clubs correct & full name. Thank you. Artistic Hand Lettering Cards and Mixed Media.
Hi Dale. Our apologies for the error, we’ve correctly updated the page now.
Isn’t October 13th on a Thursday not Wednesday?
Hi Lori. This article about Newcomers Orientation is from last year. We recommend checking out this year’s new event replacing Newcomers, Club Expos, at this link: https://suncitywest.com/2022-fall-club-expo/golf-posts/
