The Rec Centers’ Music on the Green series returns to the R.H. Johnson Great Lawn beginning Wednesday, Jan. 11!

Each show is free, no tickets are required. Shows will begin at 6 p.m. Make sure to bring a lawn chair for each show.

Due to the forecasted weather for Wednesday, March 21, the scheduled Music on the Green show with T.A. Burrows has been cancelled.
T.A. Burrow’s Music on the Green show will now take place during the spring 2024 season of Music on the Green. Time and day for his show will be announced at a later date.

Still Above Ground

The band plays rock n’ roll (mostly from the ‘60s and ‘70s) and some Country Western. They have six members: Cheryl Uhles (band cofounder), bass; Dave Carlson (co-founder), rhythm guitar and vocals; Ed Tannheimer, lead guitar and vocals; JR Lampley, percussion; Shelly Hilton, vocalist; and Kevin Husen, vocalist. Their variety of style will sure get you to dance. So come prepared to enjoy an evening of music and all that is fun!

John Gamber

Fall of 2023

Crooner John Gamber is a familiar face and voice, having performed throughout the Valley for many years. He began his career the evening his wife dragged him to a dinner theater audition (where she also performed) – and the rest is history! Upon moving to Sun City West, John performed at the Skye restaurant in Peoria where he opened for The Drifters, The Tokens, Jay and the Americans and others.

Country Crossing

Country Crossing members have more than 100 years of performing experience combined. The trio’s singing and playing style will have your toes tapping and your ears smiling. They play a large repertoire of country, folk, bluegrass, gospel, and contemporary music. Steve Kehler boasts a unique folksy voice and is a natural on the harmonica, guitar, and mandolin. Darlene Kehler is the group’s master of ceremonies and plays bass. Alan Lister is the newest member of the group. He has been known to sing some of his original songs, adds harmony, and plays a superb flat-picking guitar. This trio has played many churches, libraries, festivals, patio parties, and Sun City West clubs. They look forward to seeing everyone at the Great Lawn.

T.A. Burrows

T.A. Burrows is a multi-talented, award-winning professional entertainer who has performed more than 3,000 shows. He will perform “Remember when,” a tribute to the iconic music of the 50s, 60s, and 70s. Burrows uses his remarkable vocal talents to perform 20 popular hits by a variety of artists from Elvis Presley to The Beatles to Stevie Wonder and many more. Between the songs, T.A. keeps everyone entertained with recollections of each decade along with funny anecdotes. Featuring a classic mix of pop, soul, and rock ‘n’ roll “Remember When” is more than just good entertainment, it’s a rockin’ revue that is truly a show…to remember!
