Jane Kauzlaric, director of the R.H. Johnson Library in Sun City West, has announced her retirement, effective Dec. 14.
Kauzlaric has been the librarian since Sept. 15, 2010. Prior to that, she had volunteered at the private library in its Data Resource Center and Adult Reference areas since 2008. To thank her for her service, the library will host an open house from noon to 2 p.m. Dec. 5, at the Library. Members are welcome. Light refreshments will be served.
(As is regular policy, members must show their valid rec cards at the door to enter the Library).
Under Kauzlaric’s watch, the library has greatly expanded its digital footprint and welcomed new services to patrons, including the popular Virtual Reality program. Its DVD/Blu-ray collection is the largest private video library in the Southwest.
The library was renovated in 2017, and it continues to be one of the busiest facilities in Sun City West. Its check-out collection includes more than 45,000 titles, but the library also offers a digital collection, as well as space for a variety of interest groups including chess, poetry, writing, Legos and scrabble.
In 2016, the R.H. Johnson Library earned the Arizona Parks and Recreation Association’s Best Senior Program Award for its annual summer community puzzle. The library repeated the honors by taking the APRA Best Senior Program Award for the Virtual Reality program.
Every year, Kauzlaric and the Friends of the R.H. Johnson Library bring in a variety of speakers, authors and programs for patrons. This included efforts that resulted in receiving an Arizona Humanities Council grant in 2016, which made it possible to offer even more presentations.
Hi Jane. It has been a pleasure to see you and work with you on occasion. I want to wish you a very Happy Retirement and an enjoyable one. You have done a great job for the Library. You will surely be remembered and miassed. Take good care!
As renting snow birds, for the past 8 years we have greatly enjoyed the library and its programs. It has always been our first stop after getting our rec cards and Ms. Kauzlaric has had to manual set us up in the system so we can check out books the very first day. Thanks so much to her and a very happy retirement. Chris and Carroll Yoder, Saugatuck, MI
Dearest Jane,
I’ve been here 27 years and you have added so much during your tenure that I cannot believe it. You have made our library so very special that it wins hearts and wins awards. Please continue to be among us as the years go by. This is undoubtedly the most used service in our Rec Center and you are the reason why. Thank you so very much. Dr. Diane Holloway Cheney and Edgar Van Cott.
Jane,
You have done a great job with our library over the past years. It has been a pleasure working with you and I wish you a great retirement life!
Jane:
Thanks for being so helpful to local authors. You will be missed.
Jane,
You have always been patient and available anytime I needed your assistance.
Your kindness with the “FaceTime” preschool from St Francis Xavier these last few years
Has been a true blessing.
I look forward to seeing you in the community and may you enjoy each and everyday of your retirement.
Dolores McCaslin
My husband, John and I have lived here for 31 years. We have always loved the Library, but never more than the last few years. Jane, you and your staff have created a sanctuary for Sun City West residents where they can gather, meet friends and neighbors, get educated, or just enjoy some down time. You have grown with the times so that our Library matches all others in resources and services, even including the constantly changing electronic world challenges. Thank you for your ideas, your hardwork, your exceptional listening ability, your caring of even the most challenging customers, and your response to the ever-changing needs of this community. You are an incredible individual and we wish you a very long and healthy retirement.
