The Recreation Centers of Sun City West Governing Board has created a Search Committee to begin the process of hiring a new general manager after the resignation of Bill Schwind goes into effect March 22.
Per the Bylaws, the President establishes a Search Committee, with the consent of the Board. The committee chair is former Director Anne K. Brown. Members of the committee include Directors Terry Hamman and Jack Leary; former Director Sue Fitzsimmons and community members Gary Bosak, Lynn Johnson, Luanne Kent, Denise Rondeau and Tom Wohlgemuth.
The Association appreciates these members stepping forward to serve on this committee for this important task. Schwind has served as the Association’s General Manager since January of 2019. Replacing him will be a difficult task requiring much thoughtful consideration and an organized approach to the search.
The committee will next meet at 1:30 p.m. Friday, March 15. Because the committee will be discussing personnel matters, this meeting and future meetings will be closed to the community, per RCSCW bylaws.
A nationally renowned recruiting firm has already been selected to assist in recommending candidates for the job.
Nothing about this process was transparent in any way, and outsiders were not permitted to even apply. This committee is now stacked with insiders.
Totally agree, I would like to see their qualifications! I totally object to Terry Hamman. A ‘Yes’ man in Hurley’s Back pocket. Things are about to change! Big Time. Members, regain control of our association. Thanks for being here Frank B. Keep the faith.
Editor’s note: Mr. Horvath is a candidate in the current RCSCW Election.
Thank you for that and yes, I am a candidate and yes, an Owner/Member.
PR you also forgot to mention that Mr. Bagnato is on the Budget and Finance Committee and doing a fine job. Thanks for your service, Frank B.
Ok, we’re clear now?
So, do we get to see their qualifications? In specific for the GM search.
A New GM is of the utmost Importance and a wrong choice can cost us the Owner/Members a bunch! We need the most Qualified. Now, I guess I protest this entire committee. TORCH teaches us to us our resources. We have not! We will have a Temporary GM first. Let’s take time to find a truly and properly vetted GM. It’s too costly to hire a GM wannabe. Regards,DH
“A nationally renowned recruiting firm….”
Does this firm have a name, or are we not allowed to know that, either?
Mr. Bagnato, the name should be on the brochure, linked on our home page.
Three new directors were just elected because the community wants CHANGE. No one in the community wants more Schwind-Hurley style leadership. At least two of the newly elected directors should be on this GM search committee to reflect what the community wants in a new GM.

Board Docs angers many members. It is not navigable with intense Easter-egging or a quick course by someone in the ‘Know’. Hidden in Plain Sight might be a description.
Once seated I am going to recommend 3 committees be established. A return of the HR Committee, a Master/Strategic Plan Committee and an IT committee. Remember I am, when seated, 1/9th of the Governing Board. I am willing to work with that. It’s better than No say!
I have 3,995 owner/members, expecting me to follow my campaign promises.
