Sports Pavilion:
- We had another 300 game this weekend which is the 15th 300 game of the season at Johnson Lanes. Congratulations go to out to Jeff Levine.
- Revenue is up $600 over last year at the same time.
- 160 have signed up for our Junior/Senior Bowling Tournament on May 4 and 5. Participation is double what it was last year.
General Services:
- Beginning April 8, members who would like to store their Membership Card on their cell phones can download the Stocard App which will allow for your card to be scanned from your cell phone when entering the facilities. You cannot simply take a picture of your card as it will not work with the scanners we have installed. You may want to continue to bring your membership cards with you until you are sure the digital card is working.
- We have been asked whether we had a “universal” lost and found. The basic answer is no. We suggest that if you lose an item at a particular place or facility that you go back to that facility to inquire. If it is an item of greater value (i.e., charge cards, jewelry, wallet), staff at the facilities will attempt to identify the owners. If they cannot, these items will most likely be turned in to the Membership Office to see if they can identify the owner or held to see if someone claims them.
- We are assisting Northwest Valley Connect in getting a Transportation Survey out to Sun City West Residents. If you would like to participate and have your voice heard, the survey will be available on line on our social media or in hard copy at the R. H. Johnson Library.
- Hometown Heroes awards take place on April 24 at Grandview Terrace. The Recreation Centers is a co-sponsor of this event. The deadline for nominations for Hometown Heroes was in March.
RHJ Library:
- Although Author Isabella Maldonado drew only a small audience last Tuesday, the people who attended thoroughly enjoyed her presentation and the free gifts she gave away. Maldonado spoke about the third noel in her Veranda Cruz series, which was just published.
- At Happy Camp last week, 18 children and 17 adults enjoyed listening to stories and learning about the birds that Liberty Wildlife Animal Rescue presented. Liberty brought in a Great Horned Owl, a falcon and some kestrels for the children to see.
- Last Friday, Library Director Jane Kauzlaric presented a talk about the R. H. Johnson Library’s OverDrive ebooks, digital audiobooks and the library’s RBdigital Magazines to the Computer Club’s MacsWest Users Group. The library now owns over 6,000 ebooks and digital audiobooks and 34 digital magazine subscriptions.
- Two sessions of Virtual Reality will be presented on Tuesday of this week. Small groups provide the best experience, so pre-registration is required. Interested residents with a valid ID Card may call the Data Resource Center at 623-544-6644 to reserve a specific time.
- This Friday, April 5. Bestselling Author J. A. Jance will present a book talk and signing at 12:00 p.m. at the Palm Ridge Rec. Center. All are welcome and tickets are not required. Residents with a Rec. Card may enter at 11:15 a.m. and the general public may enter at 11:30 a.m. Jance’s books, including her newest “The A List”, will be available for purchase at the event.
Financial Services:
