The Recreation Centers of Sun City West will be reducing the hours of operation at Palm Ridge’s Activity Center building until further notice.
The modification is due to staffing challenges at the center. The pool building hours will remain the same. But the Activity Building (which houses club rooms and the Summit Halls) will be curtailed slightly during low-use periods. Effective immediately, the hours for the arts and crafts rooms/Summit Hall building will be:
- Club Rooms (Stained Glass, Computer Club, Dance Studio): 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday-Friday. Stained Glass will be open 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays, with self-monitored activities. Computer Club and Dance Studio are voluntarily closed by the club on Saturdays. All club facilities closed Sundays.
- RCSCW & Club Events already scheduled through June: All currently scheduled events will be staffed and open accordingly for those events.
- The hours will be reevaluated weekly as we work to hire staff for vacant positions. For information about working for the Rec Centers, please visit suncitywest.com/employment.
How are those curtailed hours? Clubs used to open (and still do, as far as I know) 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monitors worked four-hour shifts. Now monitors are going to be asked to work 4 1/2-hour shifts? And the morning monitor will have to show up an hour earlier?
