A Sun City West resident died while swimming in Palm Ridge outdoor pool Wednesday.
The 76-year-old man was found unresponsive in the pool. Staff attempted CPR but were unable to revive him.
Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office and Arizona Fire and Medical responded, and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Staff closed the pool and walking track for the remainder of the day, but the facilities are expected to reopen Thursday. The Recreation Centers of Sun City West is offering counseling services to the staff members who were on scene.
The Rec Centers is not releasing the man’s name. No other information was available for public release as of Wednesday afternoon.
