Thanks to input from our residents, the next generation of the TORCH Citizens Academy arrives this fall!
Now known as the Sun City West’s Citizens Academy, this revamped program provides members with a consolidated schedule of programs and conferences offered on different days to meet your schedule!
Whether you’re new to Sun City West or just want to get answers to questions you’ve been pondering, our one-day TORCH Essentials course is a great way to become a better informed citizen.
TORCH 1 – The Essentials will be offered Oct. 12 and again Oct. 27. Register for either class by emailing citizensacademy@suncitywest.com or visiting suncitywest.com/citizensacademy. The class will run 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Beardsley Rec Center. Topics include:
- Great ways to meet new people and have fun in Sun City West
- Membership types, rights and responsibilities
- Membership dues-what they fund
- Budgeting and capital projects overview
- Staff and Governing Board responsibilities
- Laws that impact the Association and how it operates
- Informational resources and how to access them
- Guest and underage policies
- And much more!
Registration is $5 and includes the course and lunch. Class size is limited to 48, so register now to
ensure your space.
Those who have taken TORCH in the past or who are registered for the Essentials program can also
register for TORCH 2: The Conference. This one-day event will be offered Nov. 6 on the R.H. Johnson recreation center and will include a keynote address and breakout sessions throughout the day. Cost for The
Conference is $10 and includes lunch. The conference schedule will be posted soon at suncitywest.com/citizensacademy.
