Rockbot at the Recreation Centers

The Recreation Centers of Sun City West is starting 2026 with a new twist on the way music selection is done for our recreation centers!

Beginning on Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026, members of the community will be able to have a say in the music played at the R.H. Johnson Pool with Rockbot, the new music service for the recreation centers. The remaining recreation centers will follow suit at a later date.

Below you will find information on how Rockbot works, what features it offers and how to use their mobile app to choose music. We recommend bookmarking this page for easy reference.

What is Rockbot?

Rockbot is a new music service coming to the recreation centers that allows members to build and customize the music selection at each of our pools and fitness centers. By interacting and engaging with the mobile app, members can request and add songs to that location’s music queue. With its built in like/dislike feature, members can also help train Rockbot in knowing what music to play by giving a thumbs up or down to the songs being played.

A Music selection built and inspired by the members

Back in September of 2025, the Recreation Centers reached out to members through an online survey in order to learn more about your musical taste and what you like to hear when visiting our pools and fitness centers. Thank you to everyone who participated in that survey as your feedback and recommendations will be used to build the initial playlist of songs used for Rockbot’s launch at the recreation centers.

Going forward, how will the music selection be updated?

As we move forward, these initial music playlists will be shaped and customized by you, the members of Sun City West. Rockbot is a platform that works off engagement and interaction through the Rockbot Request App. By performing such actions as adding songs to the queue or liking/disliking songs currently being played, you’ll be helping to teach Rockbot what the community likes to listen to and ultimately have a hand in shaping the music environment here in Sun City West!

How Do i get involved in selecting music?

You can get involved by participating through Rockbot’s Request App, available in both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Once you have a profile set up (additional assistance available at the bottom of this page) and our Rockbot service goes live, you’ll be ready to start playing some great songs!

When does Rockbot go live?

Rockbot is first scheduled to go live at the R.H. Johnson pool and fitness center on Thursday, Jan. 1. The remaining pools and fitness centers at our other locations will have this service up and running later in January so keep an eye on this page and our social media for when that happens.

Is rockbot free to use?

Rockbot’s Request App is free to download from the app store.

In order to request and add songs to a location’s queue, you do have to have credits in your Rockbot account, similar to music services like TouchTunes. Credits can be purchased directly through the app at the following prices: 10 credits for $1, 30 credits for $3, 50 credits for $5, 100 credits for $10 and 200 credits for $20.

Is there any way for me to get free credits?

Yes! You can get free credits added to your account by using Rockbot’s check in feature!

When you arrive to one of our pools or fitness centers, open up their app and check in to that location. Once you do, you are given a free credit for your visit.
