Hello members and friends! We know it’s hot out there, but please do not be tempted to cool off in our golf course sprinklers. It’s come to our attention that a few residents or visitors may be doing just that. Here are some important reminders:
- Our irrigation systems are for watering the golf courses, and we employ a “fertigation” technique that injects fertilizers into the water that comes out of those sprinklers. It is NOT potable water!
- These sprinklers put out water at a very high rate, with clusters of sprinklers going off at different times. When a cluster of sprinklers turns on, an unexpecting trespasser can be hit by a powerful stream of water. Please don’t risk being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
- Our courses are private and for the use of paying golfers. Visiting the courses outside of regular hours for any reasons is trespassing and can result in the sheriff being called, or member privileges being suspended. Additionally, trespassers will be held financially liable for any damage they cause to the course or sprinkler heads.
- This community has three outdoor pools that are open until 9 p.m. The water is clean and you can frolic safely in one of those locations! Please help us keep this community safe and enjoyable for everyone.
Last I checked there were three outdoor pools, part of Parkridge, Kuentz, and Johnson
Yes, you are correct Tom. Sorry our error and we will correct the press release. The three outdoor pools are Palm Ridge, Kuentz and RH Johnson.
Where is Park Ridge? And rec Ctr claims you are right
Why do I always see them on in the middle of the day when the most water is lost to evaporation before it can be absorbed by the grass. All the research I’ve seen is early morning is best.
Hello Richard. There are situations when we need to water during the day. This might occur if there is a power outage, as we had again last night, so the pumps turn off. We need to irrigate first thing in the morning when that happens. Or if we are putting down fertilizer or pre-emergent, staff has to water to let that soak in. Additional, when it’s overseeding time, you will frequently see us watering to give the new seed a chance to germinate and settle in. We hope that answers your question.
I agree with Richard. Look up to find that early morning is best for watering. Is SCW interested is saving water or what???
Just an idea, but I wonder if one of the golf courses could have a program where non- golfers could walk, using the course like you would a city park. Walkers could pay a club fee. We don’t have any green space in SCW, except tiny Beardsley park. It’s so much cooler walking by grass and trees instead of on a sidewalk by the hot street.
I like that idea
There are constantly walkers on Deer Valley in the evenings. Our dogs go crazy, it’s very annoying, but no consequences. Even dog walkers out there.
Could the golf courses water between 11:00pm and 5:00am? I have found the water pressure at my house to be low in the morning.
