The Recreation Centers of Sun City West are excited to announce that the R.H. Johnson Pool will be reopening on Monday, Oct. 21.
The pool was closed on Sept. 16 as work began on the warranty replacement of the deck. The Rec Centers did not have to cover any of the repair cost as this was a warranty replacement by the vendor.
During the closure, the Facilities Maintenance staff rebuilt the backwash system for the pool filters and the Rec Centers’ Environmental Services staff removed a dead palm tree from the area.
With the reopening of the R.H. Johnson Pool, temporarily expanded children swim hours that have been in place at the Beardsley and Palm Ridge pools will now go back to their regular hours beginning Oct. 21. Regular children swim hours are 5 to 8 p.m. at Beardsley and 3 to 6 p.m. at Palm Ridge.
The Recreation Centers thank members for their patience during the closure for the pool deck replacement. To celebrate the reopening of the R.H. Johnson pool, members are encouraged to visit the pool on Monday, Oct. 28, to enjoy the following:
- Free popsicles will be given away at the pool beginning at noon.
- That day’s scheduled Dive-In Movie event no longer requires tickets for entry. Stop by the pool at 6:30 p.m. to enjoy a free screening of the movie “Jaws.”
- During the Dive-In Movie, free ice cream will also be available.
I have sent in a comment before regarding this pool deck product. This is a resin based product that should be applied between 45 degrees and 85 degrees. Since the original work was done in the summer months with the temperatures well into the 100’s.. it failed and it will likely fail again since it was to warm again. You need to read the back of the drums and you can confirm this information. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.
