2026 Summer Puzzle
The R.H. Johnson Library’s summer community puzzle is back for its 15th year!
On Friday, May 29, join us at 9:30 a.m. inside the main lobby of the library for opening day of this year’s puzzle. Consisting of 33,600 pieces, members will be working this summer to finish Educa’s wildlife puzzle. Check out what the finished puzzle will look like at the bottom of this page.
Sun City West members and their invited guests are welcome to come inside, get out of the summer heat and join in on the fun. You can work on these puzzles for as much or as little time as you wish.
Remember to also fill out the sign-up sheet, located at the front of the puzzle work area, every time you stop by and put a few pieces together. This helps to track how many people participated and how many hours of work it took to complete this year’s puzzle.
The library is located at 13801 Meeker Blvd., on the corner of R.H. Johnson and Meeker boulevards. Hours of operation are from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
Bookmark this page and visit it throughout the summer as photos are shared here to show the progress being made on the puzzle!
History of the summer community puzzle
“You have a 15-piece minimum before you can go home.” – Jim Hennessey
Jim Hennessey began a tradition in 2011 that the Sun City West community still continues today, the summer community puzzle at the R.H. Johnson Library. This year marks the 15th year that the community has come together to assemble a puzzle in the library. In 2011, when Jim donated the first puzzle, the purpose was to have summer activity so that all residents could participate in the comfort of the library and have fun. The summer puzzle was and is, a wonderful way to make new friends and have camaraderie in putting together a large, complicated puzzle.
Jim’s wife, Vivian Hennessey, has since carried on this tradition by donating the puzzle used every year. The library is thankful to Vivian for her contribution every year for residents to continue on this wonderful tradition.
In honor of Jim Hennessey, let’s continue working together, chasing after the larger puzzles, and don’t forget to put your minimum of fifteen pieces in.

Thank you Vivian!
A special thank you goes out to Vivian L Hennessey as she provides the puzzles used each summer as a way to honor her husband, Jim.
