The Recreation Centers of Sun City West reminds residents that motorized vehicles, including e-bikes, are not allowed on the Javelina Trail.
Located north of Deer Valley Drive, the Javelina Trail is open to pedestrians, runners and traditional bicycles. Motorized vehicles already are prohibited, but for clarity, a “No e-bikes” sign will be posted with the existing signage at every entry point along the path.
Sun City West’s Urban Walking Guide, as well as a bike route recommended by the Cyclists Club, can be found online.
On all multi-use paths, cyclists and runners are reminded to alert pedestrians when they are approaching from behind to give adequate notice when passing.
My e-bike is only pedal assist, meaning it is a traditional bike that can be an e-bike when necessary. Please clarify. This is disheartening to say no e-bikes when this is the new mode of transportation and should be encouraged.
Can someone advise me why e-bikes are prohibited from the Javelina Trail and regular bikes are allowed. My partner rides an e-bike trike that doesn’t go very fast and she prefers to stay off the road as drivers here speed and don’t pay attention to bicycles traveling on the road. Who is the single employee that made this decision and what information was used to make the determination. I would really like to have someone from RCSCW respond with the rationale. Thank you.
There are class 2 e-bikes and class 3 e-bikes. Class 2 e-bikes are allowed on most trails through the country.
Perhaps a sign that says e-bikes are to be put in Manuel mode to bike this trail would have been more appropriate. I’m sure you did your research!?
