Join the Recreation Centers of Sun City West this holiday season as Uptown Angels and MacDougal Street West come together for Sun City West’s annual holiday concert at 3 and 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11, at the Palm Ridge Recreation Center. Doors will open 30 minutes before each show.
With the holiday season finally here, radio stations have begun to play their annual collection of holiday music, but why sit and listen through the radio when you can sit in the comfort of the Palm Ridge Rec Center and watch live performances of your favorite holiday songs. The Uptown Angels will kick off the show with catchy holiday favorites such as “Rocking around the Christmas Tree” and much more.
MacDougal Street West will then present a Peter, Paul & Mary Christmas Experience, featuring many of the songs from Peter, Paul & Mary’s televised show, “The Holiday Concert,” a PBS favorite! MacDougal Street West will also add some of Peter, Paul & Mary’s biggest hits in the mix of all the holiday cheer and wonderment. This will be the first time both groups will have shared the stage together and are truly looking forward to this delightful extravagance of musical styles. There will be something special for everyone!
Scheduled to Perform
The Uptown Angels (Mandy, Candy and Brandy) bring audiences back in time with their sassy, energy-packed show. The delightful trio performs popular songs from the ’20s to ’60s in the style of iconic sister acts (Andrews, McGuires and Lennons). Their spot-on act features toe-tapping choreography, vintage costumes and wonderful 3-part harmonies.
The Angels will get your audience in the holiday spirit with favorites from the 20s to today. Guests will enjoy Rocking around the Christmas Tree in spite of our lack of a White Christmas! From the sweet sounds of Ella Fitzgerald to the moving power of a modern Buble holiday song, this grouping of holiday favorites is perfect for a sit down show, a dinner show, dance show or to add ambiance to any holiday gathering.
MacDougal Street West: the sounds of Greenwich Village now. They are a Peter, Paul and Mary tribute band for larger venues and for local performances. Their band members consist of Ron Skelton, Mary Alberts, Rick Shore and Bill Rice. The new flowering of a vibrant musical tradition was rooted in Greenwich Village of the early 1960’s. Now legendary folk singers and songwriters of that era could first be heard nightly in the cafes stretching along fabled MacDougal Street. Today great folk still lives on in MacDougal Street West. The urban vibe of Greenwich Village emmanates now from Arizona and elicits memories of exciting times past and hopes for brighter days ahead.
