Having lived in the community 20 years plus, I wonder who is behind this Master Plan Idea, and why spend funds on it that can better be spent maintaining the Recreation Centers and the Current Amenities. Before moving forward with any NEW PROJECTS.
One Area of the community that is in needs desperate attention are the Snooker, Three Cushion, and last most of the Pool or Billiard Tables that are in very bad need of recovering, rail replacement, at the Johnson Lanes Pool Room. Recently that AREA was given a face life, new paint, chairs, side tables, fans, and carpeting. The actual Pool, Billiards, and Snooker Table were ignored.
I have even heard rumors the RCSCW Staff & BOD Member are playing on traveling all over the U.S.A. to other Senior Communities on fact finding missions.
Maybe I am wrong in my thinking, but I think the first priority is to make every venue in SCW the VERY Best it can be, spit and polish before spending any time or money of future idea.
Also RCSCW Staff and Members of the Board of Director, need to start rethink when they are spending money on anything. Pretending the money is coming out of their wallet or personal saving. JUST A SIMPLE IDEA
Thank you Mr. deLis. Sun City West is more than 45 years old. To continue to be among the nation’s best active adult communities, we need to keep our amenities in tip-top shape, but we also need to address changing demographics and trends to ensure we attract the next generation of homeowners. It’s a balancing act. The Governing Board approved the Master Plan when it adopted the Strategic Plan in March 2025, assigning the General Manager the task of hiring “a consultant for long-range Master Planning.” You can find the Strategic Plan by clicking here.
The Board further approved funding in this year’s budget to pursue that task. We are just beginning the process, working with our consultant in the initial phases of gathering information from residents like yourself about your priorities, whether that be snooker tables or any of the other many amenities we have (or don’t have). All of that input will be gathered into a formal document presented by the consultant at the end of this process. Please visit suncitywest.com/masterplan for all the latest on the plan.
Additionally, we appreciate you checking with us on the rumors about Board or staff members flying around the country to research other active adult communities. This is simply not true. The Board took a bus tour recently of some West Valley active adult communities to see what was trending in the newer communities and where we might improve, but there are no plans for anything further from staff or the Board.
