The R.H. Johnson Library will reopen Tuesday, March 9 for members to come for short visits to browse for materials to checkout. Curbside pickup service will continue to be available.
To limit the number of patrons inside the building at any one time, the library will restrict activities to finding and checking out materials. Members may come in; find their books, DVDs, and puzzles; check them out and take them back home to enjoy.
The library is encouraging visits of no more than 30 minutes, with one person per household coming in if possible. Residents are asked to observe 6-foot physical distancing from staff and one another. Patrons and staff must wear masks while inside.
No other services will be available initially, with study rooms and meeting rooms remaining closed. The Data Resource Center will continue to be available by appointments only.
Beginning March 9 for this Grab and Go service, the hours will be regular business hours: 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
Your not mentioning whether or not the library will still have the call in and get a hold to pick up outside by the book drop off as has been going on for the past few months.
Hi Gary. The Library will still have their curbside pickup service available for those who wish to check out their materials that way.
I am new to SCW. How do I get a library card?
Hi Nedra. Welcome to Sun City West! The recreation card you received from our Membership Department will also serve as your library card. If you did not receive a recreation card or have additional questions, feel free to contact our Membership Department at 623-544-6100.
I used to come to the library and read the Wall St Journal. Will this be allowed? Why isn’t the library completely reopened? Governor Ducey has rescinded the restriction of group gatherings. I can go to church with 600 people attending and stay there for 2 hours, but have to leave the library in 1/2 hour. This makes no sense.
Hi Karen. Along with our other facilities, the library will be reopened for their regular hours and services beginning Monday, March 15.
