The Recreation Centers of Sun City West Governing Board voted today to appoint former Director Alan Schlemmer to a vacancy on the Board.
Schlemmer will serve until June 30, 2026, fulfilling the second year of a three-year term previously held by former Director Dennis Horvath, who resigned in July. The remaining year on that term will be decided by the membership when they vote in the March 2026 Governing Board Election.
Schlemmer previously served on the Board from June 2023 until August 2024, when he had to step down for personal reasons.
Now with a full contingent of nine, the Governing Board will resume regular meetings in September.
Alan is a great asset to the Governing Board. Thank you for having him return.

We just had an election with numerous candidates. Given the fact that the board has been in recess since the new board members took their seats and the 4th highest vote took the extra vacancy from a previous board member, it seems more appropriate to have filled the 5th vacancy with the 5th person in line from the last vote. Mr. Schneider did not choose to run in that election. Yet, here he is, on the board again. It seems unethical in the least. But, here we are.
