Increasing members dues to support PORA would surely end in costly litigation. Those who seek to support PORA should do so with their own dime.
PORA lost much visibility when they discontinued their Explore Classes. Whether the reasons for discontinuing were good or bad the consequence remains.
The Explorer classes were handled by the Rec Center under Tamra Stark who did a wonderful job! Unfortunately, she passed during COVID and the Rec Center didn’t continue them. Tamra is truly missed by her friends – and those who attended the classes!
Wouldn’t it be nice if they restarted them? It was such an enhancement to our community.
Hello Shelia. As the Rec Centers looked into whether to continue the Explore program, we confirmed there are several other organizations who do lifelong learning classes in the area. The program was not continued for that reason, although the Library does offer a variety of programs on a smaller scale.
All that work and effort to FINALLYget the water fountain back up at Echo Mesa, between 12 green and 13 tee, and we end up with a chiller that looks like it’s been out there for forty years. It needs to be replaced, too.
There doesn’t seem to be any mention in the GM report of Dec 30 that the water heater at Palm Ridge walking pool is not working (which was not working prior to 12/30 and continues inoperable as of 1/8). Palm Ridge walking pool has been down for two weeks and no mention on SCW website? Why no mention; why not repaired?
Hi Carol. We apologize we did not put out an update earlier. We had been waiting to hear back from a vendor to make the repairs; and with the holidays, most vendors were unresponsive. We were finally able to get bids and sign a contract Monday. The vendor is on site today, and we hope to have the water temperature up to the proper temperature by Saturday. Thank you for your patience.
