The Friends of the R H Johnson Library support a lecture series usually presented on the last Wednesday of the month on topics of health, history, and community resources.
July’s lecture is titled The Science of Ergonomics, presented by Professor Emeritus Maxwell Fogleman.

The Science of Ergonomics
Ergonomics is the study of the interface (both physical and cognitive) between the work environment and people for the purpose of increasing safety and reducing errors. Ergonomics is an eclectic, applied discipline that draws from many sciences: anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, psychology and mathematics (especially statistics). In this presentation, we will learn about the component disciplines and their relevance to ergonomics. Also, since this is a highly applied field, we will investigate applications of the field that the participants can apply in daily activities.
About the Presenter
Maxwell Fogleman is Professor Emeritus at Embry-Riddle University on Prescott, Arizona: he retired in May of 2023. He taught physical and cognitive ergonomics, statistics, epidemiology, and systems at the graduate level. Max earned his doctorate from Texas Technological University in engineering, specializing in ergonomics. He also holds a Master of Public Health from Rutgers University, specializing in epidemiology and quantitative methods.
