Local Author – Bernadette Crepeau
Local Author Bernadette Crepeau will be giving a book talk on Tuesday, January 27th at 10 a.m. in the library. Bernadette spent most of her adult life working in the social services field, specializing in the prevention of child abuse and domestic violence issues. After retiring and visiting family in Ireland, Bernadette found her love for writing. She wrote her first book, Bridget, the Brooklyn Leprechaun, drawing on Irish folklore, history, humor, and the imagination of her five grandchildren. When it was considered for the screen and she heard that children in Ireland were enjoying it, she continued her fantasy series with two additional books, Royal Dorgis, and Honu. Then she branched off to write two paranormal/mystery books. Turn Back Time deals with the possible aftermath of the bombing of Hiroshima. Magical Masada offers an answer to what might have happened on that mystical mountain in Israel. After reading a news article on the life of Virginia Hall, she wanted to answer the question of what might have happened that gave Virginia the strength she needed. She wrote the first book in her Strong Women series, a historical fiction entitled Virginia. After losing her husband to a deadly disease, Bernadette wrote Linda, a woman who must find strength to continue living after her husband dies. Based on her time with a police bureau, she wrote about Barbara, a woman dealing with a terrible past while rescuing a girl taken by human traffickers. Bernadette is now writing a sci-fi that deals with a corrupt government that considers seniors a drain on its resources.
