With last year’s Holiday Card Party and Cards for Caregivers program being so successful, the Recreation Centers of Sun City West is again planning to collect cards to ensure our neighbors in local care facilities aren’t forgotten during the holidays.
This fun annual event offers two ways to provide cards for our friends in care centers:
- Participate in our Holiday Card Party if you’d prefer to fill out cards in the company of other festive residents. Simply stop by the R.H. Johnson Library between 10 a.m. and noon Thursday, Dec. 4. You can bring your own cards, but we will also have some available, along with pens, markers and stickers. This is an informal, pop-in event, so you can stop by anytime between 10 a.m. and noon.
- If you can’t make the party, you can still participate by filling out your own holiday cards at home and dropping them off during our Cards for Care Centers Drive, which will run from 8 a.m. Monday, Nov. 17, to noon on Wednesday, Nov. 26. Beginning Nov. 17, we will have collection sites available at all four recreation centers and the R.H. Johnson Library (please note the Library is closed on Mondays). Drop-off sites are:
- RH Johnson: Membership Offices and the monitor’s desk at pool and fitness
- Beardsley: monitor’s desk in the aquatics building
- Kuentz: monitor’s desk
- Palm Ridge: monitor’s desk in the aquatics building
- Library: main room
Whether you’re participating in the Card Party or dropping them off during the drive, we ask you to write a kind, cheerful message on the inside of the holiday card, and a festive greeting on the envelope, but do not seal the envelope.
After all the cards are collected, Rec Centers staff will separate them to ensure we have enough for each facility. Feedback from the locations last year was very positive and they are looking forward to this year’s cards. Thank you in advance for helping us make the holiday seasons cheerful and bright for our neighbors in Sun City West!
