Echo Mesa Irrigation & Turf Reduction Project
In the spring of 2025, the Rec Centers’ Echo Mesa Golf Course will be undergoing a replacement of the course’s original irrigation system, as well as turf reduction to meet the state of Arizona’s water mandate. To help keep members informed on the progress of this project, the Rec Centers have created this page to share important dates and previews of proposed plans for the turf reduction. Members are recommended to bookmark this page so it can easily be accessed during the duration of this project.
Project Timeline
- January 2024 – Turf reduction street front road crossings, grant funded project of $105,000
- February 2024 – Phase 1 ($205,000), bid request out to vendors
- March 2024 – Deadline of March 22 for grand money project, bid request deadline on March 5
- May 2024 – Governing Board budget approval for FY 2024/25
- July 2024 – Funds available for project
- August 2024 – Spray out turf lines
- October 2024 – Overseeding
- January 2025 – Install new pump station
- February 2025 – Start staging pipe material on site
- In progress – HDPE pipe delivery for road crossing mainlines
- In progress – Fuse road crossing mainline pipes
- In progress – Stage irrigation pipe on property edges
- Week of March 10, 2025 – Install road crossing mainlines
- Week of March 24, 2025 – Pump station connection
- April 2025 – Project start date of April 7
- Course is closed
- August 2025 – Projected completion date of Aug. 29
- Week of Sept. 22, 2025 – Overseeding
- October 2025 – Projected reopening of course on Oct. 21
Looking into the future
After the completion of the Echo Mesa project in 2025, the Rec Centers have two more courses set for irrigation projects.
- 2026 – Stardust Irrigation Project Phase I
- 2027 – Stardust Irrigation Project Phase II
- 2028 – Pebblebrook Irrigation Project Phase I
