SCW Foundation introduces new program

The Sun City West Foundation cares about pedestrian safety, and to that extent has launched the Safe Walker Program.

Residents like to take advantage of cooler temperatures at dawn and in the evenings by walking around Sun City West. However, with lower light conditions, it makes it difficult for drivers to see pedestrians. The Foundation has developed a precaution to help both drivers and walker – free reflective wrist bands.

To pick up your free wrist band, stop by the Foundation office at 14465 W. R.H. Johnson Blvd. Office hours are 8 a.m. to noon Monday through Thursday. Cost is free (one per person or two per household. Free-will donations will be accepted.

OHOA is here to help guide HOAs

The Organization of HOAs in Sun City West is here to make Sun City West HOAs stronger and more knowledgeable through education.

OHOA provides seminars for members on information that is important for running an HOA, including the changing of laws, each year. These seminars encompass roofing, paving alleys, and the best practices in an emergency.

The Association offers Leadership Academies in January that teach board members how a meeting should be run according to AZ State Statutes, how to overcome issues in an HOA, what duties as a board member entail, including information on audits and reserve studies.

The OHOA website offers lists to assist members in finding a management company, insurance companies that specialize in homeowner associations, attorneys, CPAs, etc.

If your homeowner association is not a member, have someone from your board call for an appointment to find out more about what we have to offer.

Or if you have an interest or would like to be a part of this amazing board, please contact our office at 623-214-6006 or achoscw@aol.com.

Stay focused while driving

Distracted driving is one of the most preventable, widespread dangers on the road. Every time you look at a phone, adjust the radio, eat or let your mind wander, you lose seconds of awareness that can mean the difference between safety and tragedy.

Staying focused behind the wheel isn’t just a personal responsibility, it’s a commitment to everyone sharing the road. A single distraction can change a life forever, which is why choosing to stay alert is one of the simplest and most powerful ways to protect yourself and others.

For emergencies call 911. For non-emergencies, contact the Posse at 623-584-5808.
