Are sugar plums already dancing in your head? Are you ready to crack open the eggnog and sing Christmas carols? If you’re already reveling in the holiday spirit and looking for a great place to direct those festive energies, we’ve got just the activity for you!
As part of the Rec Centers’ Holiday Card Drive, the R.H. Johnson Library is hosting a Christmas Card Party from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday, Dec. 5, to give our members a chance to brighten the holidays for others.
The annual card drive provides thousands of holiday greeting cards – with hand-written tidings of goodwill from Sun City West residents – to our neighbors living in care centers during the holidays. The Library’s Christmas Card Party will provide an opportunity for members to get together and fill out their cards in a group setting. Stay as short or as long as you’d like, or until your hand cramps up! Bring your own blank cards and writing supplies, or use some of ours.
The Card Party isn’t the only way to participate in the Holiday Card Drive. Members can fill out cards at home and drop them at any of the four rec centers between 8 a.m. Monday, Nov. 18, and noon, Friday, Dec. 6. You can also drop off at the Library between 9 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19, and noon, Friday, Dec. 6. Remember the Library is closed Sundays and Mondays.
Whether you fill out cards during the Library party or on your own time at home, we ask that you put a friendly greeting on the envelope but don’t seal it. Get them to us by the deadline, and we will get them bundled for the care centers in time for the holidays!
Our grandchild and I had a wonderful hot chocolate day last weekend getting our cards ready to drop off this year! What a great idea and activity for our community! Thanks for all you do.
That’s wonderful to hear, Anne! We’re so glad you and your grandchild are participating in the card program. Thank you!
