As previously approved by the Governing Board in this year’s budget, a prefabricated check-in booth will be installed at the Palm Ridge Pickleball Courts in mid-February.
Court users will see construction activity beginning next week as site preparation begins, including pouring of a concrete slab where the new building will sit. The booth itself will be delivered in mid-February.
The booth will be used by club members to check their members in during club play.
My understanding was that the check-in booth was for everyone not just the club. Also my understanding was that the reason for the booth was so that the person doing the check-ins would have air conditioning for those extremely hot summer days. Has this now changed?
When those discussions were being conducted I proposed installing a turnstile electronic checkpoint where members could scan their rec cards and gain entry. Visitors and guests would have been directed to the inside monitor to check in and pay guest fees and would receive a code on their receipt that would allow them to enter the code at the turnstile and have access. It would have eliminated the need for a separate monitor, any additional building, no AC requirement and could have been solar powered. I have lost all faith in the Governing Board to explore alternative resolutions to the same problem. Why wasn’t there any consideration given to this alternative by the Facilities Manager or Governing Board. What happened to serving the best interests of the residents who continue to pay increased rec center dues when fiscal responsibility goes out the window. Please comment and attend the committee and board meetings to advocate for common sense solutions.
