The meeting on the budget April 25 was well presented. I am very concerned about the TWO member price increases: $10 for member owner dues AND 50 cents increase per guest usage. Why both? The member pays the guest fee. It is not outsiders that pay that fee. 17% increase is too much!
It is not like golf or bowling where outsiders help with the revenue. You are increasing the cost to live here and then penalizing the members for inviting family and friends to come visit. Not a good plan.
Find your funding other ways or cut back on your fancy improvements. Sun City’s guest fee is only $2.00.

Hi Arline. Thank you for your input on the budget. The Association’s goals are to keep dues and fees as low as possible while also building sufficient reserves to address future capital repair and replacement needs. Dues and other fees like the tenant, transfer and disclosure fees have seen increases on a regular basis, while the guest card has not been increased since July 1, 2013. The increase of 16.7% equates to about a 4.2% increase per year. As you know the $3.50 guest fees offers access to many activities a day including swimming pools, fitness centers, miniature golf, tennis, pickleball and much more. Sun City Grand has a $4.00 fee for adults and $3.00 for children under 16. They have access to only the fitness center and pools. We do understand it ends up being residents who pay this fee for their visiting guests. But we also understand that in some cases, associates might choose to forgo a membership and get by on guest fees if the price is lower. It is certainly a balancing act. In the long run, we have to protect all the assets for the best interest of our owner members, while keeping their rates as low as possible.
