Each fall, pilots, crews, and spectators from all over the world come to the Albuquerque Balloon Festival, known as the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, the world’s largest hot air ballooning event.
For nine days, during the first full week of October, hundreds of colorful balloons float above the city each morning as dawn breaks over the Sandia Mountains. It’s no wonder this visual feast is said to be the world’s most photographed event. The Year 2024 marks the 52nd year of this spectacular fiesta,
a must-see event! Come along for a memory of a lifetime!

The Weather in Albuquerque
The weather in Albuquerque during October can range from 75 degrees for the average high and 45 degrees for the average low. There will be chilly mornings and evenings, so please bring a sweater and jacket, along with comfortable walking shoes. Hats and gloves are recommended.

Day 1: Tuesday, October 08, 2024
Depart SCW, RH Johnson Rec. Center parking lot, aisles 8 & 9 at 7:30 AM. There will be restroom breaks and meal stops (on own) along the way to Albuquerque, New Mexico. Arrive at the Hilton Garden Inn Albuquerque Uptown this evening and enjoy the remainder of the day at your leisure.

Day 2: Wednesday, October 09, 2024
“Grab & Go Breakfast” (included this morning). The motorcoach will depart for the Balloon Fiesta around 5:15 AM (see schedule below). After the morning events, we’ll depart for Santa Fe, New Mexico, to experience the unique Southwestern Culture at its finest. While in Santa Fe, there will be free time to shop, visit the galleries, or have lunch (on own) at one of their fabulous restaurants, returning to Albuquerque and our hotel after our visit. This evening we will enjoy a special dinner at the High Noon Restaurant.

October 09 – Balloon Fiesta Morning Session (Subject to change)

Day 3: Thursday, October 10, 2024
Breakfast (included) this morning at the hotel. Depart the hotel for a self-guided tour of the Anderson – Abruzzo
Albuquerque International Balloon Museum. The museum showcases a vast collection of balloons, artwork, and
aerial artifacts. Their exhibits show the history of ballooning and highlights the science that has thrilled human imagination for more than a century.  Next we will depart for Old Town, where there will be time to explore the charm of this beautiful city that looks much like it did centuries ago before we enjoy a delicious lunch at the popular Seasons Rotisserie & Grill. Then, return to the hotel to freshen up before departing for the Balloon Fiesta and the evening’s “Glow” festivities. It will be a spectacular evening!

October 10 – Balloon Fiesta Evening Session (Subject to change)

7:30 PM – Main Stage Musical Performance
8:00 PM – AfterGlow Fireworks Show

Day 4: Friday, October 11, 2024
Breakfast (included) at the hotel prior to our departure. Departure from the hotel will be approximately at 9:00 AM local time. There will be rest stops along with a lunch stop (on own) on our way back home. Arrive back in the valley around 5:30 PM this evening.
