While there were fireworks going on in Augusta, Ga., earlier this month with the Master’s Tournament, Sun City West golfers had fireworks of their own at Deer Valley Golf Course with the 5th annual Men’s 4 Club Championship tournament on April 12.
For the past five years, each men’s golf club has sent their club champion, or a club represenative if the champion can’t attend, to compete in this tournament.
Troy Williams, representing the Grandview Men’s Club, defeated Patrick Kenevan from the Pebblebrook Men’s Club in a two-hole sudden death playoff to take home the crown this year.
Both players completed the 18-hole event at even par (72) with Williams birdieing the last hole to tie Kenevan and send it into overtime. Williams and Kenevan both parred the first playoff hole and Williams two putted from off the green on the next hole to secure the title.
Each of the Rec Centers’ four regulation golf courses were represented by the following players:
- Troy Williams – Grandview Golf Course
- Patrick Kenevan – Pebblebrook Golf Course
- Sheldon Peterson – Trail Ridge Golf Course
- Tim Main – Deer Valley Golf Course
Past champions include: Tom Roos, Kent Potts (2) and John Uekert.
